NFL Power Rankings - Week 6
The undefeated Seattle Seahawks sit atop the first Power Rankings of the 2020 NFL Season.
Seattle Seahawks (5-0)
Russell Wilson is playing at an MVP level to lead the top team in the first BCSC NFL Power Rankings of the 2020 season. The next three games (at Arizona, vs. SF, at Buffalo) will pose a major threat to their undefeated mark. If they can win all three games, the Seahawks will be the clear early favorites to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.
Kansas City Chiefs (5-1)
The defending champs have the most quality wins in the league through the first six weeks with victories over the Ravens, Bills, Patriots, Texans and Chargers. A 40-32 loss to the Raiders in week 5 is the only thing keeping Kansas City out of the top spot.
Baltimore Ravens (5-1)
The Ravens’ lone loss is to Kansas City. Their average margin of victory in their five wins is 18 points. There is a reason the 1-loss Chiefs and Ravens are ahead of two undefeated teams.
Pittsburgh Steelers (5-0)
The Steelers have looked very good through five games, but Pittsburgh’s five opponents have combined for just 9 wins. We will learn a lot about this team in the next 2 weeks at Tennessee and at Baltimore. If the Steelers are 7-0 after that stretch, they will likely catapult to the top of these rankings.
Tennessee Titans (5-0)
Just like the Steelers, the Titans five opponents have combined for just 9 wins. The Titans host the Steelers this week in a must-watch matchup on Sunday morning.
Chicago Bears (5-1)
The Bears are undefeated on the road. They will hit the road again in week 7 for a Monday Night Football date with the Rams in Los Angeles.
Buffalo Bills (4-2)
The first-place Bills started out 4-0, but have lost their last two games against 5-0 Tennessee and 5-1 Kansas City. They are still well-positioned to win the AFC East title in Tom Brady’s first year outside the division in almost two decades.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-2)
The Bucs defense looked fast and potent in holding the Packers to just 10 points on Sunday. Tom Brady and the Bucs face the Raiders on Sunday Night Football this week.
Green Bay Packers (4-1)
The Packers averaged almost 40 points in their first 4 games before being held to just 10 points by the Bucs on Sunday. Look for the offense to get back on track this week against a Houston defense that has given up 198 points through six games this season.
Las Vegas Raiders (3-2)
After a massive win on the road at Kansas City, the Raiders were feeling good during their week 6 bye. Tom Brady and the Bucs will pay a visit to Vegas for Sunday Night Football on the Strip. This game is big if the Raiders have aspirations of competing for the AFC West title.
Cleveland Browns (4-2)
The Browns have averaged 38 points per game in their four victories, but have been blown out 38-6 and 38-7 in their two losses. The Browns need to show up this weekend against a pesky Bengals team that has played better than its 1-4-1 record.
Indianapolis Colts (4-2)
Philip Rivers and the Colts overcame a big early deficit to defeat the Bengals in week 6. They have week 7 off before a winnable game against the Lions in week 8.
New Orleans Saints (3-2)
The next three games are huge for the Saints (vs. Panthers, at Bears, at Bucs). The offense is averaging just over 30 points per game, but the defense is giving up 30 points per game. Something’s gotta give.
Miami Dolphins (3-3)
The Dolphins have three blowout victories to go with three close losses. Miami looks like the best .500 team in the NFL at this point.
Los Angeles Rams (4-2)
The Rams are 4-0 against the NFC East, the worst division in football history. The problem is they don’t get to play the NFC East anymore. Los Angeles will have to beat some real teams before we can take them seriously as a threat to the Seahawks, Cardinals, and 49ers in the NFC West.
Carolina Panthers (3-3)
The Panthers are a scary 3-3 team. All three of their losses are to Top-10 teams in these rankings. They have a big test coming up against the Saints in New Orleans on Sunday morning. They need to win to keep pace with the Bucs and Saints in the division.
Arizona Cardinals (4-2)
The Cardinals have a big opportunity as they play host to the first-place Seahawks on Sunday afternoon.
Detroit Lions (2-3)
The Lions have an impressive win at Arizona to go with a blowout victory over the hapless Jaguars, but losses to the Bears and Packers leave the Lions below their NFC North foes. They need to take advantage of the next few weeks, as the homestretch of the 2020 season is brutal for Detroit.
San Francisco 49ers (3-3)
Two of the 49ers three victories are against the Giants and Jets. If it wasn’t for a week 6 victory over the Rams, the 49ers wouldn’t be this high in the rankings.
Denver Broncos (2-3)
The Broncos couldn’t score a touchdown, but a week 6 win at New England keeps the season from spiraling out of control for Denver. The Broncos won’t be able to settle for field goals if they hope to beat the Chiefs in week 7.
New England Patriots (2-3)
The Patriots offense couldn’t get back on track with the return of quarterback Cam Newton in week 6, losing at home in an ugly game against the Broncos.
Dallas Cowboys (2-4)
The 2-4 Dallas Cowboys are in first place in the NFC East. That is all.
Atlanta Falcons (1-5)
Oh, what could have been… The Falcons have blown numerous big leads, while a blowout victory over Minnesota in week 6 showed what this team can be. It might not be too late, as the Falcons sit only 3 games behind Tampa Bay in the NFC South standings.
Minnesota Vikings (1-5)
The Vikings have been close, but the schedule has been rough and it doesn’t get any easier. If Minnesota wants to get out of the cellar in the NFC North, they need to have a good showing against their division foes in three straight weeks after an upcoming bye.
Houston Texans (1-5)
The Texans have had the toughest schedule in the league so far. They have played the No. 2, 3, 4, and 5 ranked teams in these rankings. They have winnable games the rest of the way. Look for Houston to have a strong finish to the season.
Philadelphia Eagles (1-4-1)
The 1-win Eagles look like the favorites to win the NFC East.
New York Giants (1-5)
The NFC East is really bad.
Washington Football Team (1-5)
Like, really bad.
Los Angeles Chargers (1-4)
The Chargers uniforms are amazing, and their rookie quarterback has looked good, but the defense has given up 28 points per game in four consecutive losses.
Cincinnati Bengals (1-4-1)
Joe Burrow has the look of a franchise quarterback. Cincinnati has lost games by 3, 4, and 5 points this season. The future indeed looks bright in the Queen City.
Jacksonville Jaguars (1-5)
The Jags traded Nick Foles to the Bears for a fourth-round draft pick in the offseason. Foles is currently leading the 5-1 Bears while the Jaguars offense has struggled to score points.
New York Jets (0-6)
The Jets are the worst team in a very long time.
